F126 - High-tech fregatten voor de Duitse Marine

About this project

In November 2020, Thales signed a contract with shipbuilder Damen for the construction of four ultramodern frigates for the German navy. This is the biggest project in the history of Thales Netherlands and Thales Germany Naval organizations ever. The multifunctional frigates are designed and deployable for many different worldwide missions of the German navy. For this project, our advanced technological systems will support the German navy in making tactical and strategic decisions in all situations. The first frigate will be delivered in June 2028.

Multi-entity team for technology game changers 

Thales Wilhelmshaven and Thales Kiel are working together on these ultramodern frigates in a multi-entity project team at Thales Hengelo. Transparency, trust and teamwork form the basis for this. Thales will supply the following for the F126 ships:

•    Mission and combat systems are also to be integrated by us, such as the Tacticos Combat Management System, AWWS (Above Water Warfare System), the Anti Submarine Warfare mission module and various sensors such as the Gatekeeper. In addition, we be supplying various subsystems for which we work closely with our subcontractors. 
•    Integrated communication system 
•    Training & reference systems on land for testing and training purposes, as well as integrated logistical support. 

The F126 is not only a game changer in terms of complex technical efforts, but the project also involves challenging requirements in areas such as cybersecurity, IT-Security and Safety.
