Location: Hengelo, Netherlands
In the Customer Training department of Thales Netherlands, we have made it our mission to transfer knowledge and skills to our trainees, enabling them to safely and efficiently operate/maintain the Thales combat systems and sensors, allowing them to act at decisive moments.
About your future job
We offer the possibility of working in an exciting and technically challenging domain providing training to our customers about our systems and solutions. These solutions include radar equipment, electro optical systems and a combat management system (CMS) that interacts with and is used to control sensors and effectors on board naval ships.
The CMS consists of software, hardware and computer network technology, and our customers need to know how to maintain it. Technical Trainers are responsible for transferring the necessary maintenance knowledge and skills to the customer maintenance crews, which helps them guarantee availability of the CMS and associated sub-systems.
Training courses range in duration from about one to five weeks. When not in training, Technical Trainers use their time to develop training material for future courses, or to prepare for up-coming deliveries.
The main tasks of this position are:
- Delivering CMS maintenance training directly to the customer, in Hengelo or world-wide
- Cooperating with colleagues from various departments to gather the necessary information as input to the training
- Working with other training colleagues to improve our training process and didactic approach to training
You'd be a good match if you:
- Have practical experience with computers and networks
- Are open to international travel (approximately 3-4 trips per year, 1-3 weeks per trip)
- Have a proactive, can-do attitude
- Get energy from communicating with others about highly technical topics
- Are fluent in English, written and spoken
- Speak some German
- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in e.g. an IT-related field, or Engineering (not a hard requirement, but a plus)

- You can usually work where and whenever you want. Within Thales, we aim for a 60/40 balance, where you work from home at least two days a week, when your role allows this.
- A good salary, fitting travel allowance, and the ability to personalise your employment conditions: for instance, you can trade PTO for internet costs, our bicycle plan, company fitness and relocation costs.
